WIM/WSX Annual Prizegiving and Social Event
Saturday 2nd April 2016 at Shillingstone Church Centre
This was an afternoon event starting with orienteering round the village with starts from 3.00 pm followed by buffet tea and prize giving at 5.00pm. About 60 orienteers from WIM and WSX, together with friends from SARUM & QO took part.
There was a 60 minute Score course for most people and a Yellow course for younger juniors. Both courses passed near the Shillingstone Railway Project.
We must thank Dick Keighley for organising and planning the event and Trevor Bridle for organising the buffet. Dick also set up two TempO control clusters to try within the grounds of the church centre.

Founders Trophy – this year we finally have a new name on the trophy but unfortunately the women again dominated the top positions.

Club League (18 races this year – best 6 to count)
Men’s was not so close this year with Richard Brightman winning convincingly with 528 points – followed by Chris Branford 504 and Roger Hills 491
Ladies – run away winner was Sue Hands with a perfect 600 followed by Wendy Bullen 567 and Tamsin Horsler 438
Junior Men – the winner was Darren Whittingham 556 followed by Harry Bratcher-Howard on 529
Junior Women – a rather close family affair with Sarah Horsler winning with 594 followed by Elizabeth Horsler with 590
Summer League (8 races this year – best 4 to count) Open to non-WIM orienteers
Dale Paget WSX was the outright winner with 395 out of a possible 400 points followed by Chris Branford on 379.
Kirsty Staunton WIM was winning woman and 3rd overall with 365 points
Winning junior was Harry Bratcher-Howard WIM with 270 points to topple Darren Whittingham
Looking further afield we had a very successful year in the South West Summer Relay series. WIM teams won the SARUM Moonraker Trophy, the WSX Hardy Relay Trophy amd our own WIM Furrow Hoppers Plate. WIM finished top and won the South West Chairman’s Trophy which was presented to us at the Caddihoe Chase in September.
